Laser hair removal uses light pulses to selectively destroy actively growing hair follicles by targeting the melanin (color) in them. The melanin absorbs the laser pulse, which travels down to destroy the root of the hair and its surrounding structures — on the legs, underarms, face, bikini area, and more.
Yes — laser hair removal provides permanent hair reduction of up to 80% after a series of six to eight treatments for the legs, chest, underarms, bikini, face, and more.
Discontinue waxing or tweezing six weeks before treatment, and avoid sun exposure and spray tans for two weeks beforehand. Shaving the area the day before your appointment is recommended.
It depends on hair density and the treatment area. Only follicles in the active growth stage can be targeted per session, so multiple visits are needed. On average we recommend 6–8 treatments, spaced 6–8 weeks apart (slightly different for facial areas).
Most clients describe it as a mild snapping sensation — similar to a light rubber band flick. The Elite iQ's built-in cooling system minimizes discomfort significantly, even on sensitive areas.
Sessions range from as little as 15 minutes for small areas like the upper lip to 90 minutes for a full body treatment, depending on the area.
Our lasers treat all skin types and most skin-and-hair combinations. The only limitation: since lasers target hair pigment, we are unable to treat blonde, red, grey, or white body hair. Book a free consultation and we'll walk you through whether it's right for you.
We use the FDA-cleared Cynosure Elite iQ™ — one of the most advanced dual-wavelength systems available. Our licensed specialists are experienced with all skin tones, and our Astoria spa offers a comfortable, private setting with minimal downtime.
Yes — shaving between sessions is encouraged. Avoid waxing, plucking, or threading, as these remove the hair root that the laser needs to target.
Laser uses a single focused wavelength for precise, deep follicle targeting. IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) uses broad-spectrum light and is less precise. Our Elite iQ delivers consistently superior, longer-lasting results across all skin types.
Minor redness and slight swelling for a few hours post-treatment are normal. Serious side effects are rare when treated by experienced, licensed professionals using properly calibrated equipment.
Brazilian, legs, underarms, and bikini line are our most requested treatments. We treat over 30 areas of the body — see our full area list.
